Family to love the high life at 100-storey Australia 108 residential tower at Southbank
ROWENA and Parminder Singh are part of a growing trend of families, many with children, who are living the high life in apartment towers.
The Southbank couple and their two young kids will move into the 89th floor of the 100-storey Australia 108 skyscraper in 2020.
The 319m-high building will become Melbourne’s tallest — nine levels above Eureka Tower — and offer the highest homes in the Southern Hemisphere.

“There are a lot of families now looking at the apartment option — for the convenience, safety and security,’’ Ms Singh said.
“And to be a part of an iconic building, it’s a unique opportunity.
“It is a more affordable way to live, rather than buying a big house in the suburbs. And everything is on our doorstep.’’
Even though the Singh family won’t move in for another two years, residents on lower levels will be able to call the removalists mid-late next year while construction continues above them.
The staged handover method means residents will move in progressively as the apartments are finished.
Australia 108 will pierce low-lying cloud.
Builder Multiplex started construction in November 2015 with deep foundation works taking more than six months.
The building is now about 20 levels rising from the site, at the corner of City Rd and Southbank Boulevard.

The Singh family is working with award-winning architects Fender Katsalidis on converting two apartments into one multimillion-dollar 328 sqm, three-bedroom home.
They currently live in a nearby tower which has helped with their decisions for vertical living the new place.
“It has opened our eyes to how we can live in an apartment, in terms of storage, a garage and space-saving furniture,’’ Ms Singh, who has an interior designer background, said.
The “starburst on the 70th and 71st floors.
Koh Wee Seng, chief executive of Singaporean developer Aspial, said $2 million, three-bedroom homes were available above the “starburst” feature on the 70th and 71st floors.
“A few remaining apartments offer an opportunity to buy into history and own a trophy sky home,’’ Mr Koh said.
New data from the City of Melbourne revealed that three-bedroom apartments were being built at the fastest rate in five years.
Australia 108 will change the Southbank and city skyline.
The A108 penthouse was sold for $25 million — a record at the time.
Only about 20 of the 1105 apartments are still for sale, with 90 per cent of properties snapped up within the first three months of going on the market in 2015.
The Star Club will feature two lap pools, two gyms and dining.
The mostly glass-clad building complies to the latest fire regulations.
